Recent Projects
As I mentioned before, I am working on numerous writing projects, some of which are closer to completion than others. Recently, I have finished an 8 month long novel project and am now going back to edit.
This project, under the working title of Blood and Sand, is a fantasy adventure that combines the high aesthetics of fantasy with an, ancient/medieval Zoroastrian influence.
The desert is the main setting, and there are a few different places that the characters visit, one of them being a flourishing (crime and trade) city. Much of the time period would fall between pre-medieval, though one of the protagonists does wield a sabre, which the form I envision wasn't technically invented until after the Renaissance. But, and this is one of the awesome things about writing fantasy--it's your world. The other aspects of their overall technology is relatively young. Irrigation is not widely used, but they do have the benefit of lamps.
The story revolves around a central conflict between men and the deities, which has been going on for numerous centuries already, but just meets a peak of dissension, so to speak. The characters have to navigate through this world, dealing with the fact that they are part-god, while also avoiding some dangerous enemies.
Other than the superficial description, the story gets kind of complex, and I don’t want to reveal too much and ruin the surprise.
So hopefully soon I will be able to officially announce Blood and Sand as an upcoming book! In the meantime, I’ll post little tidbits here and there, and the low down on some of my other projects as well!
Zaijian, and keep writing!
